PUR FM 3700 3 Stage Vertical Faucet Mount with Filter Chrome

Enjoy filtered water right from your tap by installing this Pur water Pur 3-stage vertical spout-mount water purifier FM370. It attaches directly to your faucet and installs in minutes without using tools. You can easily switch from unfiltered water to filtered water by turning the faucet mount to the up position. This filter reduces dangerous cysts, such as cryptosporidium and giardia, while decreasing all sorts of impurities, such as lead, mercury, asbestos, and chlorine. The Pur water 3-stage only works with standard faucets and will not work with pull-out faucets.

The built-in filter life indicator keeps track of your filter life and it automatically shuts off when filter life runs out. A filter casing, one filter, and an automatic safety monitor gauge come with this product. The purifier’s filter measures 2-1/4-by-2-1/4-by-4-1/2 inches; mount measures approximately 3-by-5-by-6 inches. For consumer confidence, it is backed by a 5-year limited warranty.

5 Stars Very Satisfying Product
This filter is performing flawlessly and looks great attached to my kitchen faucet. Definitely a good buy!

1 Star Just look at the reviews
Sometimes people just have different experiences with products. They’ll get a faulty TV when most other people have no problems. But at the time I write this review this product has a 2 1/2 star rating after 152 reviews. That should tell you enough. You MIGHT get a decent one, but the odds are this product will quickly develop a leak that seems to come from every seam in the product. I was one of the ones who thought it was just the odd one I got, so I tried it again and it developed a leak even quicker (within a couple of months). I’ll be looking elsewhere for a faucet water purifier.

4 Stars Works well.
I love this item. I use it multiple times daily. My only complaint is that the last one I owned only lasted for 18months before it became loose and leaked water.

1 Star Can’t judge a filter by it’s looks.
I have been a Pur faucet filter user for years. I had the older version white one for years with no problems. I decided to get the chrome one in my new apartment because I thought it looked sharp. At first it was working fine, but the plastic piece that covers the connection on the faucet came off and looked awful. This after only a couple months of use. I decided to get a new one of the same unit and take the other one back with the new receipt. It wasn’t even two months and the same plastic piece fell off of the new one and then developed a nasty leak that would squirt right at me if the water pressure was high enough. Now there is also a leak between the faucet and the filter so the water that comes out of the filter is mixed with tap water dripping down the unit. Unbelievably crappy!

I emailed the company about it and got no response.

I like the old Pur water filter much better. If I get another faucet filter, it will be the white one which will hopefully hold up like the old one did.

Stay away from this model.

1 Star Filter cracks after a month of use
Bought this product after using an older version of Pur assuming this would also work fine. I was very happy when it attached to my faucet without any additional hardware. However, after one month of use my wife noticed a small crack behind the filtration unit. We continued to use it running water under low pressure while looking for a better model. Now the crack has widened significantly and we have a mini water fountain flowing in to our living room when unsuspected guests try to get a sip of water. Planning to get a pitcher dispenser to avoid this nonsense.

    User Ratings and Reviews

    1 Star Can’t replace filters
Watts’ products are a total waste of money. There is no way to remove the old filters and replace them. When I bought the unit, I also bought a set of replacement filters. When it came time to change the filters, the old ones could not be removed. They are screwed on too tightly to even budge. Watts told me I needed to by a special wrench from them, which I did. It was a worthless piece of plastic that did nothing to remove the old filters. Plumbers couldn’t even remove them. I finally had to throw the whole unit away plus the box of new filters which could not be returned. I will never by a Watts product again.

    2 Stars Noisy hissing RO
This unit replaced an older RO that was no longer functioning properly. My major complaint is the loud hissing/gurgling as the tank fills. It goes on for hours even if you only remove a quart of water from the tank. I have a tiny house with the living room and kitchen open. I have to schedule when I use this RO so it fills up when I’m not in that area. The unit was professionally installed and I have been unable to reach the company to make a complaint. My water pressure is adequate. If it were not so expensive to do, I would have it replaced with some other unit.

    5 Stars Good Water Filtration
I recently purchased and installed this filtration system to work through our refrigerator ice maker and chilled water dispenser. It installed easily and with a couple of extra parts was working to produce crystal clear ice cubes and very good water.

    1 Star Too much noise!
We were very excited to install and use the filter system for our well water. The installation went fine, the storage tank does take up space underneath the sink area. But the noise, we were not expecting. After the initial fill up and subsequent refills to settle the charcoal dust, we were ready to go. Each time the tank needs to refill you hear the trickle of water down the drain, 4 gallons of water is processed to make 1 gallon of filtered water. Plus a hissing noise similiar to a pressure cooker until it refills. We called Watts, and while they were very friendly, the rep. agreed “Yes, it is noisy.” No solution was offered. We decided the cons outweighed the pros and uninstalled the system and sent it back. Had we known about the noise and the amount of waste water, we would not have purchased.

4 Stars Well Suited for Hydroponic Gardening, With Some Caveats
For an aspiring indoor hydroponic vegetable gardener like Your Humble Narrator, a source of clean water is essential. Here in suburban Salt Lake City, we are blessed with some of the dirtiest water in the country. Using this meter: pH-EC-TDS Meter my tap water clocks in with a pH of 8.2-8.4 and TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) reading of 300-350 ppm (parts per million). This review specifically addresses the suitability of the Watts WP5-50 reverse osmosis system to the task of providing a water supply for the home hydroponic gardener.

I’ve used other filtration devices, like straight carbon filters, and have been disappointed. Yes, they do remove sediment and some contaminants, however the drinking water never genuinely tasted “clean”. Moreover, taking the testing meter to this water, and the TDS reading never went below 280 ppm which is unacceptable for hydroponic growing. After doing some research, I concluded that the only option was reverse osmosis.

    Package Inspection

Out of the box everything looked okay with the exception of the faucet, which, as other reviewers have noted, is a cheaper version of the displayed product.

    Installation

Installation was straightforward. The instructions, while not written by an English professor were sufficient albeit vague in a few critical places. I had the unit installed within two hours.

Waste Water, Output Water Quality and Quantity

My three biggest concerns with this product are output water quality, output water quantity and waste water production. Bear in mind that all of these are dependent upon the quality and pressure of your incoming water supply, which can change from season to season as well as from one time of day to another. Take a certain degree of comfort in knowing that my incoming water is probably worse than yours.

I have not yet connected the waste water tube to the sink’s drain. Rather, the waste water tube is currently draining into an 18-gallon bucket so I can take measurements for the purposes of this review. To leave this setup in this manner is a code violation. I suggest that you connect your unit properly.

The amount of waste water this unit produces is staggering. For each gallon of clean water, I produce an additional 6.5 gallons of waste water. I have come to understand that I will experience a similar ratio regardless of the reverse osmosis unit I use. This phenomenon is a consequence of RO technology in general rather than a peculiarity of this particular unit. As I’ve suggested, the amount of waste water produced is proportional to how contaminated your incoming water supply is.

The output water quality is excellent. TDS (total dissolved solids) are 15-20 ppm, which is ideal for hydroponic growing. Any purer than that brings you into the realm of distilled water, which would need to be supplemented with minerals to be suitable for hydroponic use. Output water quantity is sufficient although disappointing. It produces one gallon in about 90 minutes. Higher water pressure and cleaner incoming water will decrease this time. The storage tank, although it has a physical capacity of three gallons, drains to empty after drawing two gallons. I consider this is a consequence of the technology, not a case of misleading advertising.

    Summary

The Watts WP5-50 reverse osmosis water treatment system is well suited to the task of providing contaminant-reduced water for the purposes of hydroponic growing. It produces clean water in sufficient quantity for the purposes of a home hydroponic garden. Insofar as the waste water is concerned, for the time being, I’m leaving the waste tube in that eighteen gallon bucket. I’m using that water for my lawn.

    June 20, 2009 – Important Update

Several weeks ago, our city’s water changed for the worse. I’m assuming that it’s because of a switchover to summertime procedures where water consumption is considerably heavier. Incoming water is now 800-900 ppm of Total Dissolved Solids. The unit’s output water quality is 80-100 ppm which is still in the “good” range. It now produces roughly twelve gallons of waste water for each gallon of clean water is generates. The lesson here is that water quality can dramatically change from one season to another, as well as from one time of day to another.

PUR CR 6000C 2 Stage Oval Water Pitcher with LED Indicator

The Pur like no other water filter pitcher. The Pur Multi-Cup Pitchers provide clean, great-tasting water conveniently waiting and chilled in your refrigerator. They’re available in a variety of sizes for your drinking pleasure.

        User Ratings and Reviews

        1 Star low quality
This is by far the very worst water pitcher that I have ever used. I don’t know where to start. The entire thing is a plastic piece of junk. It takes at least 25-30 minutes to fill it because it takes so long for the water to go through the reservoir/filter. And you can’t just fill it and walk away, you have to stand there and baby-sit it and make sure the water is coming out. The entire thing can’t even be filled with water, it can only be filled just to the reservoir and even then it’s way too much because it often spills out in different directions when I am pouring it. The taste of the water is rather flat, it tastes like evaporated water that’s been sitting out. I do not care too much about filtered water, I got this for my family and loved ones who do, but they have told me that they prefer bottled water or tap water as I have very good tap water where I live. I do not recommend this to anyone. Fortunately, after I explained my problems to Amazon they gave me a credit (this is why they’re the best e-commerce company.)

4 Stars Well received gift, with a catch
I gave this as a gift to a college student. It was well received, but it seems that the indicator light on the filter is WAY over anxious to say it is time to change the filter. I have used PUR devices and these filters for a long time and it definitely is reporting in a little early. I can’t say I know the reason for that, so otherwise, I’ve had good feedback about this as a gift item.

5 Stars Pur Pitcher with LED- A perfect water filter pitcher!
I purchased this water filter pitcher to replace a Brita Pitcher after I learned that Brita filters don’t filter out any microbes or pharmaceuticals, but only chlorine, etc. The design is great. Unlike my previous Brita filterBRITA Water Filtration System Kit 1 Pitcher Vintage Model (Large Capacity) plus 2 Fliters this one consists of three easy to clean parts, the pitcher, the basin, and the lid. When you pour from the pitcher, the LED flashes, indicating the status of the filter. It’s not measuring anything when you pour, pouring simply activates the LED and tells you how much time has passed since you set the timer, indicating its state as working or not. Though it may filter a tad slower than the Brita filter, the time difference is not significant, and the fact that it removes 96% of pharmaceuticals, and microbial cysts makes it well worth it. If you enjoy the convenience of having an LED to remind you when it’s time to change filters, I would definitely recommend this model. If you don’t mind using the stickers that come with the filters to remind you when to change, or have enough confidence in your memory to do without either, I would recommend saving the money and buying one of these models: PUR CR-6000 2 Stage Oval Water Pitcher or PUR Water Pitcher with Bonus Trial-Size Samples

3 Stars Not as sturdy as it looks
The LED indicator is cheap and inaccurate, and the jug leaks when it is filled to begin filtering. Wish I had bought the on-tap filter instead.

5 Stars Pur CR-6000C 2-stage Oval Water Pitcher with LED indicator
I have really enjoyed the Pur water pitcher. I couldn’t believe how the pitcher took the smell and taste out of the water. I would hightly recommend this product to everyone that has a problem with their water.

          Culligan FM 15A Faucet Filter

          Culligan FM 15A Faucet Filter

The model No. FM15 compact water filter reduces 99% lead, greater than 99.95% cryptosporidium and giardia cysts, chlorine, bad taste, and odor. Mounts directly onto kitchen faucet; simply pull the diverter valve stem to receive filtered water right from t

          User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars C’mon, you can do it, too
Okay, I have to admit, that I have had this filter for a few months, never removed from the box. In the meantime, I’ve been environmentally unfriendly, by toting home bottled water. I’m not sure why, but for some reason I had an air of intimidation, that I would have difficulty installing this thing, or that it would not function as well as I had hoped. Yeah, I’m a bottled water snob and can probably identify my favorite brands blindfolded by the taste. So, I suspected my water would still taste hard, with its ghastly offensive, chlorine odor, and taste. To avoid disappointment in myself, or it, I denied I needed to tackle this job.

Well, I feel so foolish, now. It took me all of 10 minutes to install it today, without even reading the instructions, so ANYONE can do it—trust me. Then I gave it a taste test and was more than satisfied. I could no longer smell, or taste the chlorine. My water tasted almost as good as the spring water sitting on the counter. So, I have happy, dancing feet, today. I feel I have accomplished something that is worthwhile, not only for myself, but for the environment. I also think my lumbar spine will enjoy a break from toting water home.

I don’t know how well the system will hold up in my very hard water environment. But it is quite inexpensive, so if I have to replace it due to hard water damage, it will not be that problematic.

2 Stars Only three weeks and already problems!
Bought this three weeks ago. Seems to filter the water okay but the valve stem has already stopped working which means you have to remember to push it back in after each use or the filter won’t last every long!

5 Stars best little water filter
I am lucky that GE made the all-metal self-shutoff valve available to Culligan – I could not find the GE filter with that valve any more after the last such GE model had been discontinued. All the new GE filters now have a different design. Having an auto valve switch from filter to tap water makes the entire construct last much longer, because you do not need to turn a faucet or handle off. It is also very convenient – pull the valve out and you get filtered water; then just turn off the water and the valve (spring-loaded) snaps back into its tap water position – great!

3 Stars a few flaws but works
after using the filter for 4 months I thought it warranted a review.I have replaced the filter once and the water tastes great, but little can be said about the mechanical aspect of the filter. It does not leak at all but the knob that was supposed to switch back to tap water once you are done filtering does not work anymore, this can be somewhat annoying though not that big an issue.I don’t know if its because of the sediments collecting in the filter, but on changing the filter, initially the flow is good but as time goes by the flow turns into almost a trickle. In all a good filter with a few mechanical issues.

          3 Stars water filtration
Filter mounted easily. Can’t say water tasted any different. Pressure was reduced with filter on. Problem is water won’t shut off instantly but keeps running slowly for about 3 seconds.
